My first impression Old Grand Dad (80 proof), was that....."it is a fine, fine whiskey." Smooth, warm, delicious. And perfect for webinars. By the time the webinar started, I felt like it was 1882. My granddaddy taught me that expensive whiskey was the nectar of the gods. And Old Grand Dad...well....old Grand Dad is a might fine whiskey.

OGD is 86 proof. It is the Basil Hayden(OGD) version that is 80 proof.

The review makes me want to go get a bottle. Wish I would have found so much interesting the last time I tried the current version. Great review.

i didn't realize that! i've only had the BIB and the 114...i always thought (since i never LOOKED) OGD was 80....if it's 86, i might give it more than a look!

I just recently bought a bottle of OGD 86. To me there is a definite resemblance to Basil Hayden and Old Taylor 6. Yr. I actually like the OGD 86 better than the BIB. The 86 has more depth and complexity than the BIB to my taste buds. OGD 86 is very nice, and I will buy another bottle if JB Black is not available.
