I have a feeling that the slot today for this whiskey is Rock Hill Farms. They are quite close in taste IMO.

Now I'm wondering if Eagle Rare was an older Benchmark, i.e., when both were made by Seagram. The seem quite similar, a rum-like taste (and color) characterises both and it did ER 10 after Buffalo Trace started to make it.

I still have a couple bottles of this boy. It is an excellent bourbon alright, and your description of it having rum-like qualities is right on the mark!
