The Woodford Reserve Bourbon Academy

It's going to be three different dates this year rather than just two. Tuition is only $100 which is down from $125. :thumbright:

Linn,

What's the deal with the Academy? Please provide a bit more info. I'm not familiar with this.

Well Bob I've never attended before, but I think this will be either the third or forth year this class has been offered. It's a one day deal taught by Master Distiller Chris Morris. Professor Mike Veach has also given a bourbon history lecture in past classes. John & Linda Lipman have also attended a past class. So I'm sure they'll chime in and tell us all about it.

Three dates are available: Jan 21st, Feb 12th, and March 5th. I'm thinking the Jan class would be best as far as weather is concerned. It'll be cold, but not quite as cold as mid-Feb through mid-March. I hope it snows! My JEEP Liberty LOVES snow!

 ima gotta JEEP! :)

I don't want to make a blantant push for our own website, but we do happen to have a page on the event.

If you truly want to learn about bourbon whiskey, this is the best way to do it, short of going to work for a distillery. The seminar is one day, but it's ALL day, and every minute counts. You'll see (and taste) things you never did before, and you'll learn how and why whiskey is made the way it is. And Chris Morris is an outstanding teacher. (Mike's no slouch, either, but I don't think he's always featured). And say hi to Marnie for us.

I have been there every time, as far as I know they have not had one without me. It is a great time with good food, a great tour and plenty of whiskey to taste. I learn something new everytime so it is good even if you have been there before. They also give a nice diploma - a Woodford Reserve Barrel Head with your name on it. Not quite as nice as a full barrel, but then again it is only $100.00 to go...

Oh Well! I had thought that more folks would have been interested in going besides just me. I'm going to go ahead and register and see what date I can come up with.

I very much like the idea Linn but getting off from work at that time, the possibility of snow and the money factor right now come into play and I need to know when to say when. But be glad you are going as you can share input and maybe some pics with us when you return!

John, I think you know the way to D'Marie's. I believe that there will be a B.A.R.D.S. chapter meeting there that Friday evening.

I know you got a Jeep Linn, but just take it slow and steady crossing those mountains! Oh, and take your camera along, I am sure you will get great pics both at the event and on the way there as well. :)

Have Fuji - Will Shoot!

We might take the longer southern route through Bristol, Tn. It all depends on mother nature.

Weather looking better! A bit of snow tomorrow. Rain at lower elevations on Thursday. Could still have signifficant snow/ice at the higher elevations. We''ll climb through it OK. Coming down the northern slope might be aventurous. You have far more control when you power uphill, than engine breaking downhill.

Frick it! ima can do it!
