Any pipe smokers here?

I have recently fallen in love with smoking a pipe and sipping some bourbon. Any other enthusiast here?

Dang! I always hate to see Threads with no replies! I'm in!

I enjoyed pipes on and off over the years but haven't fired one up in a long while. I still have them and still have some tobacco. Pipes are a thing of beauty (at least the nice ones). The grain of the wood and the skill of the carving are on display. The contemplative nature of pipe smoking is one of the best attributes. I do miss it and have considered pulling them out.

Thanks for the Thread!

I have been a pipe smoker for about 35 years and I do enjoy a pipe full of tobacco with a good bourbon. I recently convert a young bourbon enthusiast to the pleasure of a pipe and a glass of bourbon while we were getting together in Bardstown.

Cool! What types/brands of tobacco do you enjoy?

I buy my tobacco at Kremer's Smoke Shop in Louisville. My go to tobacco is Kremer's Black Royal.

I always liked the process of choosing tobacco. All those jars with so many scents!

I like non-aromatic tobacco's. Mostly Virginia flakes.

I usually go with a cigar instead of my pipe. But yes pipe smoking is something I do when i take bourbon.Problem is I do not like flavored tobacco but almost every tobacco I found were flavored. I like to have raw tobacco and have the flavor applied after processing. Which is known as top dressing. The difference is subtle

While I do like the occasional good cigar my preference is one of my pipes. I get far fewer objections while out in public and I truly enjoy the variety of tobacco's that are available.

There's a lot of body and depth in pipes that I think would appeal to bourbon drinkers. Not to mention cellaring (which is tobacco for bunkering). I'm getting good mileage out of PS Luxury Navy Flake and MATCH Revelation smoked at about a 2 bowls to 1 ratio, interspersed with a quality codger blend like Carter HAll or what-have-you. Smoked in cobs exclusively.
Taken the cure.

Samuel Gawith's Squadron Leader, which I class as a medium English with Oriental forward notes. I derive much pleasure from my pipes.
