B&B at Bourbon fest

Unread postby Chaz7 » Sat Aug 13, 2005 1:38 pm

I will be taking my wife to our first Bourbon Festival. Can anyone recommend a good Bed & breakfast in the area. Although I can look at bandbonline, I hope someone can give us some insight.

B&B

I hope you are asking for next year.

It is probably way to late to entertain getting even a regular room at a Days Inn. You will probably find it is going to be a little bit of a haul from Bardstown to a decent B&B that is not booked.

I hope I am wrong and you find something close. Just remember that approx. 40,000 people are hitting a very small town. Things fill fast. I have had my reservations since February.

Good Luck

Try the 5-room Sherwood Inn in New Haven, about 13 miles S of Bardstown, with direct highway access. It's the old train-station hotel adjacent to the Kentucky Railway Museum. Squeaky wooden floors, but comfortable and full of character -- and a handsome bar (separate entrance) downstairs.
I got a room last year there very late -- within a month of the Festival. Don't expect, however, to SLEEP late. The steam whistle from the train offering the morning museum tour will WAKE YOU UP!

Chaz, try the Old Talbot Tavern or the Jailer's Inn, as they may still have a room or two available. They're just two blocks from Spaulding Hall, and easy walking distance to the gazebo.

Thanks for the tips. I do hope there are availabilities, but this was something spontaneous for me. I am looking forward to the event, and if I'm staying at a homeless shelter, my brown sack I'm sure will be the only one with Pappy Van Winkle 20yr...

Chaz,
If you would like, I'd be happy to call around for you in the morning.
I'm pretty sure the Talbott is booked. But, there's the Victorian Lights, Rosemark Haven (incredible food), Beautiful Dreamer and the Colonel's Cottage that may still have a room. There's also a big ol' nice one right across the street from Spalding Hall (heart of the Festival). I can't remember the name, I'll call a buddy that knows them. They aren't always open, and they only offer a couple of rooms. They don't do much advertising, so maybe they'll have a spot.
We'll find you someplace to stay. We can't have you packin' yer Pappy around in a brown paper sack...

Help!!!
Does anyone know how to get in touch with Chaz7? I got up this morning and made some phone calls. I've found one room within walking distance to the Festival. Best I can tell, it is probably the last B&B room available. They have agreed to hold it briefly. If anyone has his personal email, please, please drop him a line.
