Knob Creek Rye

Unread postby Shell@freilich.com » Tue Oct 09, 2012 4:36 pm

I recently bought a bottle of Knob Creek Rye. It is a wonderful rye. Strong, lingering rye notes, nice mouth feel, and an intriguing complexity. I saw it available in MI for $45 (state min. price). It was selling in MD and VA for ~$36-$38 for a 750 ml bottle. The MI price seemed overpriced. But, still a really good pour.

It's a decent pour, but it isn't worth the price, IMO. If it were $10.00 cheaper, I'd have it on hand all the time.

Bulleit Rye is $10.00 cheaper and very good. I like Knob Creek Rye better.
Ten dollars better?
Well, yeah.

I am not a fan of either Knob Creek Rye or Bulleit Rye, give me Rittenhouse Rye 100 proof any day

I like it well enough, but I just don't think it's worth the asking price. I'd rather spend the money on the KCSBR, but that's just my preference.

I agree with you, Vince, Rittenhouse BIB is a better whiskey than Bulleit (although I do like Bulleit), and I will be trying KC rye soon, soon. I have always like Knob Creek and think Knob Single Barrel is the best thing being produced by Beam.

I agree with you on Knob Creek and especially the Single Barrel which I think is fantastic. I will be anticipating your thoughts on the rye. I was very disappointed.
