WL Weller 12 year

Hey guys,

What are you thoughts on the Weller 12 year? I for one believe it is a SUPER pour for the $$$$$; I can get it here in Fort Worth for $20 a bottle.

How does the Antique or Reserve compare to the 12yr? I can find plenty of the other two, but none of the 12.

Old weller Antique is probably the best buy in Bourbondum. The WSR is also very good only at a lower proof. Th 12 y/o can also be very good. I find that the older 12 y/o's were better than the new ones.

I recommend vatting 70% 12 YO and 30% Antique........ to me it improves both.

I wish we had some of the Weller line here in Hawaii. We have Maker's Mark (&46), Rebel Reserve ($21) and I saw a bottle of VSOFitz12 ($45), but that's all for the standard wheaters (I did snaggle a VB17 wheater ($53), but I'm saving it for a special occasion, since a single replacement is marked @ $80).

I bought my first bottle of Weller 12yo today. Cannot believe how good it is. Cannot decide which is better: Weller 12 or Elmer T. Lee.
I will buy both my next few visits to the Liqour store and enjoy the comparisons...

Getting back to the original question, I love me some Weller 12. To me it is the best mid shelf wheater available, and in my head-to-head comparison, I prefer the Weller 12 by a whisker over the next best mid-shelf wheater, Larceny.

But unlike the majority around here, i do not care for OWA or WSR. For my palate, these do not have the great balance of sweetness and char from the oak that makes Weller 12 so attractive for me.

To each his own.....

I think the OWA depends on the lot of barrels. The last couple standard bottles I had off the shelf fell short... I did like this years 12 yr. Great for $25....

Unfortunately we don't get Weller here in Ohio. I prefer Wheaters and want to give it a try. We don't get Larceny either.

For the money the 12 is a bargain and a good introduction to an aged wheat recipe Bourbon. For my use I prefer the Antique but I always choose higher proof if there is a choice.

Finally got a bottle of the 12. Looking forward to seeing how it stacks up against Lot B.
