Rocky, I am your exact opposite. I have, or have had, every single bourbon on your list and purchased them with the express purpose of drinking them. I do not understand what you are waiting for, its only whiskey. Unless, you bought them with the idea that you wanted to try them but are waiting until you have more experience with whiskey before trying these which are said to be superior.

I disagree. I usually have a new shirt for about 6 years before it's familiar enough to put on.

Ah, MauiSon, what patience!! And, might I ask, how long does the food sit upon your plate before it can be tasted? I know not whether to admire you or pity you....... so I will do both!!

I have a bottle of FIghting Cock I bought a month ago, and a bottle of Four Roses Single Barrel I bought at about the same time.

Okay, they aren't real expensive, and I haven't had them that long. Will probably open them shortly.

The only bottles I haven't opened are a few that I bought as souvenirs. Otherwise, if they're not open, I just didn't get to them yet!

Okay, I now have a 'spensive bottle' to crow about. I just found a Vintage Bourbon 17 for $52.99+ and I have no intention of even looking at it sideways again this year. :? My only question - should I go back and get those Vintage Ryes (21 & 23) for under $65 a pop?

I have a lot of nice bottles that are not open but a lot of that is because I have a lot of bottles that are open. Everything is subject to being opened I just don't get a lot of company that drinks bourbon. If someone stopped by and said I want to try that it would get opened.

I have probably a dozen or more that I do not open. That's not to say I won't. I try to collect very good bourbons with an eye to those that are unique and likely not available any more. I try to grab two and when I get the 2nd, I'll drink that. At any given time I have 6-8 open and that gives me quite a choice on any given evening. This week, for instance, I picked up a couple of John Bowman's (small batch & barrel #44) and a couple of select barrel OWA's. I also picked up a few OG114's. The OG114's are for drinking and anticipating that they, too, will get the attention they deserve and get more hard to find & expensive. We're fortunate to have a well stocked lounge that offers the fine/rare bottles and I do much of my tasting there and that leads me to find one for myself.

I suspect that those who have prizes on their shelves aren't hurtin' for something to drink!
