Bookers vs Rare Bread

Unread postby dickelfanaustralia » Mon Jun 11, 2012 4:24 am

What are you opinions?

Bookers have ages from 6 to 7. what is better?
Looking for a more leathery smoky Bookers then the calm brown sugered one i had 2 years ago.
I am thinking WT rare bread for more power. Would WT RB have a big bread like body and some gripping power.
Reviews are from harsh bitterness you cant cut right, to excellent, to god like and cognac like.

My palate is more old granddad. Not Even Willaims. I did like wt rye 101 but it lacked backbone.

i dont like all toasty wood and a hard nutty character. More of a soft bread and the sour mix still there.

Buy a bottle. I think you'll like it. It is one of my favorites.

Cheers,
Mr. G

FYI: My [easily obtained] favorites are, Wild Turkey Rare Breed and Kentucky Spirit, Willet's Family Reserve, Woodford and Four Roses Single Barrel.

I read many notes on RB here's my concerns
hoopy like a beer, (i cant even drink a hoppy beer)
rough edges,
no balance
and not much body, with very TOASTY OAK.
KEEP IN YOUR FREEZER. This suggest the alcohol there there and probaby just burns you.

This is not good for my palate. I cant get though much.

so im thinking
bookers
beam white 100 proof. I like how light white is but that about all.
Rarebread.

Wild Turkey Rare Breed IMO is an outstanding bourbon which offers complexity in flavor, great balance and also incredible nuance for a barrel proof bourbon. It is one of my favorites. Bookers is also a great bourbon but, to me, more aggressive in its approach. Of course you are looking at ranges of proof from 122 proof right up to 130 proof (I just tasted a 130 proof at the distillery on saturday). I always have to cut Bookers with a little water, I really never have to cut Rare Breed.

I would try them both, they are both worthy of being on your shelf

How does it compare to Wild Turkey 101. Does it have a Bread body like that? And more power to it?
