Bourbon ice cream

Unread postby Bourbon HQ » Fri Mar 30, 2012 5:54 pm

Here in Louisville, there is a local place called Homeade Pie and Ice Cream Kitchen. They have just come out with an ice cream called Bourbon Maple Nut Ice Cream. It's made with; Parker's
Heritage Bourbon, with real Vermont maple walnuts and pure Dutch cocoa from Pennsylvania. Made with local dairy milk (Dean's) and regional pure ice cream. It's delicious! You can really
' taste the bourbon. It's a limited time ice cream. Maybe only sold until after the Kentucky Derby next month. If you're in the area, I highly recommend you add this to your bourbon collection.
Check out their website.

I have no idea why they chose Parker's. Next time i go in there, I'll ask them. Here's their website www.piekitchen.com

Interesting. A little heavy for me, but, peoples palates these days need to be hit with a sledgehammer to get anyones' attention. Recognizing it's also designed to be over-the-top :) I'd go with a super light extra milked down eggnog formula and something like Ancient Age 80 for the corniness. Add pecans to maintain the southren flavor.
Taken the cure.

Was the choice to use PHC worth it?

With all the other tastes, I couldn't really tell. But I think I would have used a spicery bourbon, like Four Roses Single Barrel.

Hey jaycamm, who cares what it costs or what they used?? It's just another bourbon adventure. Leave it there.

It's the same amount of bourbon, I guess that may include shipping, or they were just having a weekend sale when I was in there.
