I needed some of my goto cheap stuff to keep me from guzzling all my Woodford over the holidays and picked up some Very Old Barton 6 year 90 proof from a local Beverage World that is small and not very busy. They only had 1 bottle and it had a thick coat of dust on it and it was stuck to the shelf, I had to use a good deal of force to pry it off.
It's more than drinkable, but had quite a bit more raw sting to it than I remember it having last time. I suspect from the dust and being stuck to the shelf it had been there a very long time.
How do I date this bottle to find out how long it had been sitting there?
Numbers:
On "Aged for 6 years in Oak" label - 61103
On front label, bottom right - 136932
On front label, bottom right, stamped - 00823411 211
Back label - 136980-750ml-90
Emboss on bottom of bottle - 42 18 08
Something printed on bottom as well, I can't make it out.
So many numbers! Thanks for any help, I'd like to know why this particular bottle is so zingy!
