Access to BT Antique Collection and Pappy Collection

Unread postby taylor714 » Sat Nov 06, 2010 7:35 am

First, let me start off by saying Hello! I've liked bourbon for a few years, and just recently have decided to branch out into some of the more expensive bottlings, such as Elmer T. Lee and Pappy Van Winkle 15 year old. Previously I was a woodford reserve and makers mark man.

I would like to know how uncommon it is to have access to all the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection as well as the whole Pappy Family, Rye included. There seems to be a lot of rave around these, but one local store has bottles and bottles of each sitting on the shelves. From what I understand, it is a fairly limited release.

Has Buffalo Trace ever put out their own tasting notes on each of these bourbons? I searched google, but could only find consumer opinions, and none from the distiller.

Thanks for the help!

They fly off of the shelves here. I got to the store late this week and all they had left of the Antique Collection was a single bottle of Eagle Rare 17 and two bottles of Stagg. They had two bottles each of all of the Pappy, except the Rye.

I saw them at the downtown Crown Liquors last Friday. They had two bottles of Stagg and one bottle of ER 17 left when I got there, and only a single bottle of Stagg when I left :D

I saw much more of the 2009 than the 2010, so far all I have been able to secure is Saz18 bottle from julios I have yet to pick up. I think I'm not going to be able to find what I what this year.

I am raging right now. After another lousy day at work at 5:26 I got an email from a local liquor store that stocks some high end hooch asking if they got any BTAC in and they replied with a list of "top shelf bourbons" which included the BTAC run, so I drove down there and I locate the bourbon shelf (which had been moved since my last visit) and there it is George T Stagg! and the price on the shelf below it ... $139!!!!!!!!! Handy was also $139, $99 for Saz18, I didn't catch the price on ER17 or WLW but I'm sure they were outrageous. I just ended up grabbing the last bottle of Vintage 21 year Rye they had at $40 (what a puzzle) and giving up hope of finding any Stagg this year.

A store here has GTS 2010 on the shelf for $129.00. I ask the price everytime I go in and just say no thanks.

There are some THH 2010 around here for @$70.00 though.

if you check my Dec 21 2010 post the place I mentioned STILL has 3 or 4 (I can't recall exactly) bottles of Stagg on the shelf from last year, still $139. If I ever decide to skip town I'm waltzing in there wearing a gorilla mask and loading up my arms with the entire 2010 BTAC stock which they still have basically 3+ bottles of it all (the cheapest priced at $100) and bolting for the border.

We sell GTS for 79.99. Unfortunately, I only received one bottle in the Spring release and that lasted about an hour and a half before it was sold. Hoping for more in the Fall release. Hmmmm, maybe I should raise the price????

We only get Pappy and the Antique Collection (GTS, WLW and Handy Sazerac) in May and November. It is not available to us throughout the year.
So call it a release or allocation or whatever.....that's when I get it. I never know what I'll get until it arrives. This spring I got no Pappy 20. A few years back I got no Pappy 15 in the fall.
Also, I'm waiting for the next shipment of Michters Bourbon which will come next month. Have been out for months.

We are expecting our allocation the second week of November. Distributor says it should arrive at their warehouse last week of Oct.
