Have an old/rare bottle you'd like some more info on?

"4/5 quart"

Unread postby auntninasniece » Wed Sep 15, 2010 7:27 pm

I am having a hard time finding info on a bottle bequeated to me by my aunt - who knew I enjoy bourbon. I understand 4/5 quart on the label dates it to before 1979, but it has gold wax, her name in a gold sticker on the front and is signed by Bill Samuels. "73" is stamped on the bottom.
I understand that I am breaching protocol since this is my first post; but I would be very grateful to anyone who can enlighten me.
sincerely,

As always a picture would help the people who know these things. Is this a bottle of Maker's Mark?

Of course, thank you, I'm off to photograph.
It says Maker's Mark on the back label.

It sounds like a personal label bottle of Maker's Mark. In the 70s they did labels for people/ It was an 86 proof bourbon with a gold wax seal. I have had two bottles of this bourbon and it was some of the best bourbon I ever drank.
