Beaming with Choices

Unread postby Dump Bucket » Mon Nov 02, 2009 4:41 pm

Looking for folks to mark the top Five (5) of Fifteen (15) Beams that they enjoy.

Not looking for anyone to bash the products that they do not, just looking for sound feedback on what they do or do not like about the CURRENT beam products.

It is true that Beam has purchased some labels near and dear to a few of us, but that's business baby...

I am thinking about doing a wheater, high rye, low rye, rye, etc poll in the future... but just for fun, we will start with Beam

Where is Old Grand Dad. I think if you put the different ages of Jim Beams you need to add the different proofs of OGD.

Cannot argue with that, but I just used the list from Wiki ... and I can only get 15 per poll. OGB is parcially leading the poll. Once we have our top 5, I will break it down.

You will also notice that I only have one Beam Black (the 8 yr). I did not put the NAS and 7 yr in there....

Lets see how this pans out and then go to the top 5 in a follow up poll.

Em,
Just one small correction - Old Taylor is now Buffalo Trace.

Mike,
Does Beam own any of the rights on Old Taylor still? Of is 100% at BT?

Fortunatly, there are no votes there yet so it does not look like it will make it into the next round...

Well, it looks like OGD is the top of the labels for Beam at this point. I will give this poll another week or so and split out the top three and expand the Beam for another round...

I will be adding in some "reasons" to go with them so... toss in ideas if you have them like:
OGD 114: Because of the flavor profile
OGD 114: Because of the Cost / Value point
OGD 114: Because of the proof
OGD 114: Other reason?

Anyone got any ideas... I will probably narrow it to 3-4 reasons for 4-5 bottles....

Looks like Beam Black, OGD 114, OGD BIB, Knob Creak and one other.

I plan to skip the 86 proof unless folks change my mind. NOT because of any bourbon bashing reason, just because the 114 seems to be the one folks are asking why it is MIA and the Beam Black is in the proof range.... but I am all ears... sound off
