I just got back from a non-internet trip to Florida. I'm thinking that Jim R. picked the barrel but I could have be wrong.
Thanks for the setting the acronyms straight. I've added one:
SB = Single Barrel
SmB = Small Batch
SOB = Anyone who messes with the age of OWA.

I once proposed that we use FR1B as the shorthand for single barrel, allowing FRSB to be the shorthand for small batch. How about SiB and SmB?

Why not type Small Batch or Single Barrel? Then there will be no confusion. In fact, why not type Four Roses instead of FR? I understand people are texting on their cell phones and have to use abreviated words and phrases; however, I don't understand why a person cannot type the full name of a bourbon. Maybe I am the only person that feels this way. Often when I am reading a post, I have to pause and try to identify the bourbon that is being discussed.

I am in complete agreement with Doug. There are many readers of Bourbon Enthusiast that may not understand the abreviations. This is especially true of those new to bourbon as well as those from other countries for whom English is not their native language. Spelling it out may take some small amount of extra time for the poster, but it would go far in avoiding confusion bringing bourbonic enlightenment to those that seek it.

Awww Maaaan. After I spent so much time memorizing all the abbreviations. Now you don't want to use them? After I made all those flash cards for my wife to show me so I could practice instant recognition?

I kinda feel like I'm special now and besides I'm not sure I want just anyone to be able to read what I write - after all, using abbreviations and only only abbreviations proves I'm part of the very exclusive club of Very Elite and Special Bourbon Enthusiasts.

Just imagine if some new member to the Forum was able to instantly recognize all the labels mentioned in the threads........naaaa. :lol:

Sailor, I love good sarcasm! Great Post!

I personally hate abreviations and try to spell out the brand and type when I post (I also hate those smiley faces and never use them, but that is because I do trend toward the grouch at times.)

Mike, that's a lot of hate for something so unimportant. (Smiley goes here)

I have been told I have become a bit of a grump in my old age, but after getting to fifty, I decided I did not care if people thought I was a "grumpy old man". I still loath those "smiley faces" icons.

Mike - I have learned to use the icons because if I don't too many people take me seriously.

I use abbreviations a lot, it is not to suggest membership in an exclusive club, it is to save time in writing. We all have our own way of writing...

It seems important to chime in here to say emphatically that I AM a grumpy old man and I could give a shit about the smiley faces and as to abbrevations, to those who use them (excessively) I say, FYATHYRIO.

The 57.5% Four Roses SB was selected by Toddy's/Liquor World(behind the Dairy Queen).
