Why do some people call gentleman jack tennesee whiskey Bourbon? Costco sells this product as a bourbon whiskey, it is a tennesee whiskey if I am not mistaken. They should not be able to sell it as a bourbon.
I am from Bourbon County Kentucky, born in Fayette county across the road from where Man O War stood at stud. Has anyone heard of Shawhan in Bourbon county Ky? I believe that is where bourbon whiskey was first made. The Shawhan family came from Penn during the whiskey rebellion and settled there, they later moved on to Missouri.
I just joined and am looking forward to reading and learning alot of things on this site.

The short answer is....that it qualifies to be labeled as a bourbon. It follows all the reg's but, chooses to label itself a Tn Whiskey.

You are aware that any state in the Union can make bourbon, right?

Hope you enjoy yourself here. Post your thoughts often.

The long answer is that technically the Lincoln county process adds flavor to the whiskey thus disqualifying it from being bourbon. As stated by the US govenment in a letter to the Jack Daniels distillery viewtopic.php?f=17&t=6084.
