Mellow Corn BIB is on my list to pick up next time I'm in KY. Last time I got a fifth. Next time I'll probably get several. I have not tried doing any vattings yet. I bet the Canadian Club 100 proof I have would be good for vattings.

The Canadians take it very badly when you say their whiskey contains GNS. What it contains is analogous to the grain whiskey in blended scotch. It is spirit distilled at less than 190 proof, though admittedly not much less, and aged in oak barrels for, I think, three years. Three years is how long the EU rules require for whiskey and I think it's the same for Canada. Only American blended whiskey can and does contain GNS, though only when sold in the USA. American blends that are exported, such as Seagram's Seven Crown, are reformulated to meet EU specifications.

I'm open to the argument that it is a distinction without a difference, but there it is. Under Canadian law, Canadian whiskey does not contain GNS.

I get it in Kentucky and I've seen it in Oklahoma, but I can tell you that Virginia and North Carolina are the center of the corn whiskey universe.

Hey Jeff, I'm taking the family camping up that way Aug 7th. If you can locate a store near Davis, OK that has some I will pick it up for you, and of course some for me.

Not long ago, I saw a 375 ml of it in a little strip mall liquor store in OK City, which may have been an anomaly, but it may also mean that Mellow Corn is relatively popular in OK. I don't know which it is. I do know that VA and NC are the states that consume significant amounts of the stuff on a per capita basis.

I always think you are kidding, Linn, but that doesn't mean you aren't also speaking the truth.
