The rye that Emerald is describing comes across very similar to a Canadian whisky...without the GNS or flavorings. It is very clean not muddled at all. Nothing, I taste today has the same type of flavor profile in the rye catagory. I bet this bottle would be a mind blower at 100 proof.
I have not picked up the lumberyard flavor, yet. Not sure I want to. Either way, it is outstanding juice. I bet if Beam paid a little more attention to their version...it could get this good. Problem is, they would want 50 bucks for it.

Sounds like Michters-made rye. Jackson said in the '78 World Guide To Whisky that Michters sometimes supplied rye for the Overholt label. That soft vanilla and smell of fall in the forest gives it away because Michter's Original Sour Mash (6 years old) had that too. They would have been similar mashes, really, also, I have theorized that aging in cool Eastern Pennsylvania countyside imparted that forest glade-like note. Goods notes Emerald.

Thank you Gents. I was lucky when I found the 500 and 750 of this. Just a remarkable feel and taste of pleasant whiskey.

I agree with jeff that at 100 proof, this would be incredible, but at 86 I am very pleased.

By the way, I rec'd your message regarding the generous Blanton's offering... and I commend you. I currently need to get more 50ml Knob Creek bottles before they go to plastic. Those little babies travel without breakage, and pack well. BB
