If you are evr in Bardstown, Mary Hite is a direct decendent of the Bixler family. Here father and grandfather were distillers at Henry McKenna before it was sold to Seagram's in the 1940's. Mary was a curator at the Oscar getz museum before leaving there about 10 years ago to take a better paying job at the post office.

In addition to McKenna, which is the one in Fairfield, the various Bixlers and their kin also worked at Barton and Old Judge, which is better known as the original Old Fitzgerald distillery in Frankfort. Although most speculation has it that the wheated bourbon formula originated at A. Ph. Stitzel, it's also possible it was originated at Old Judge by one of the Bixlers.

Just a note here let you know that this book is evidently selling well. I was talking with Laura Sutton from the University press the other day and she was saying that they may have to do a second printing soon.

It my opinion, their timing was perfect and they did a nice job with it. I'm glad it's doing well.
