It would be interesting to compare this to Mike V.'s bottle from 30 years ago which I had the good fortune to taste recently and was excellent: slightly winy-like, not too much anise or banana, some woody char but not too much. I remain convinced it is possible to recreate that taste through vatting. Perhaps a blend of Jack Daniel Green Label 3:1 to JDSB would do it. The current Black Label may be too feisty to do it. Another way might be to take a relatively mild bourbon, say Virginia Gentleman, and blend that 3:1 with JDSB.

Anyway, Mike V., hang on to that bottle. :)
