Cardhu 12yo Single Malt

Unread postby bourbonv » Sat May 13, 2006 3:15 pm

I have this bottle of Cardhu Single Malt that was given me by United Distillers as part of an Employee give away in about 1994. I have never opened it so I thought I might do so today.

Brand: Cardhu Single Malt Scotch

Age: 12 years old

Proof: 80

Color: Honey Yellow

Nose: Vanilla and floral tones - maybe lavander with a little liquorice and light peat.

Taste: Very thin and watery. Very little taste in the mouth with just a little peat and vanilla. It is in the finish that this whiskey explodes.

Finish: Very nice with a honey sweetness with some spice - definitely liquorice, vanilla and light peat.

Notes: This is the malt that is the basis for the Johnny Walker blends. It is cery much superior to any of the blends that I have tasted. It is a very light drink and would go well with a meal or after dinner as a palate cleanser.
