The Bourbon Society is going to have a Repeal Day Party at the Pendennis Club, here in Louisville, on December 5th between 6:30 and 11:00. If you live near Louisville and would like to join us, tickets are going to be $30.00 each. There are going to be some distillers on hand with some free pours. There are many members that will bring special bottles to pour. There will also be a cash bar in case someone wants something other than bourbon. There will be a spread of food and some guest speakers such as Chris Morris, Al Young and myself (I will be speaking on prohibition and repeal). If you are interested you can go to the website www.thebourbonsociety.net for more information. Come on out and join us for a great time.

I could not find anything about tickets on the web site. All I got was a forum like this one. I'm not planning to attend but I wanted to point people in that direction so I checked it out and couldn't find anything about the event there.

The Bourbon Society web site is a forum similar to this. I know they were having some trouble getting this set up the other day, but here is the link to the ticket sales:
www.thebourbonsociety.com

(Changed to correct link to tickets sales 16 November 2009)

Apparently one has to either be a member or request membership to buy a ticket. Bad marketing. Too many hoops.

No Chuck, membership isn't required for this event. Tickets should be available now using paypal. Wish you could make it down.

Sorry Chuck, I did not realise that the link would not work for non-members. I thought all of the forums were open to the public. Anyway the link that does work for anybody is http://www.thebourbonsociety.com

It sounds great. I wish I could make it. Good job with the new link. That solves the problem.

I bought reservations for my wife and I, am looking forward to this.
It'd be cool to get a tour of the Pendennis Club.

Man, I have to go to a Christmas party that night as it turns out. Why would they pick the biggest night of the Christmas office party season? Oh well. Post up some pics please.

Repeal day is December 5th. That is why it is scheduled that day.

Don't blame The Bourbon Society, blame Utah and Pennsylvania, the states whose ratification put repeal over the top, on December 5, 1933. Shame on them for not considering the preference of that date for company Christmas parties.

The name "Repeal Day Party" might have been a tip off that it was a commemoration of a specific day.

As a self-employed person, I have a company Christmas party 365 days a year.
