Memorial weekend

Unread postby Bourbon HQ » Sun May 27, 2007 10:12 am

Saturday night, several members of the Bourbon Society enjoyed an evening of great food, tastings and socializing at the beautiful home of new member Willie Wallace (he's wearing the yellow shirt). Willie knows how to do it right. Not only does he have a great bourbon collection (pictured), but he has a humidor room in his home for enjoying one of his amazing collections of cigars. And to top it off, he had the food catered for us. Brisket, pork, beans, salad. Chuck made his homemade habenero bread and we chowed down. Also there were Shay and some of the ladies were also toasting and trying cigars. Thank you Willie for a wonderful evening.

I'll second that.

It was funny, Willie came down stairs to his smoking lounge and ask us to tell him what he poured. Crap, I hate this game! Well it was dark so it had to have some extensive age and it smelled like a warehouse which confirmed the age. It also exhibited a definate floral quality. The best I could come up with was an aged 20+ years rye. I almost fell out of the leather sofa when he confirmed I was correct. However, I couldn't come up with what it was, Hirsch 21 yr, exactly but I was prety close. Sometimes I amaze myself.

Doug brought along some extremely aged wheated bourbon; two bottles one 30 and the other 32. It was amazing that the 32 was better than the 30. It was a fantastic evening with friends, bourbon, cigars and food.

Sorry about tooting my own horn, but I'm really proud I got as close as I did. I must be learning ;)

Thanks Willlie for the great night.

You guys have too much fun. I wish I could have been there. Doug looks too laid back, as do you Gayle. Keep up the good excursions and posts.

Agreed, Joe! :thumbright:

Looks like y'all could have made good use of a saint to bless the proceedings.

Allow me to introduce myself.

Oh Yeah! ima will be in Louisville on the 8th & 9th of June. This is just a heads up to; 1) leave town, 2) plant I.E.D.'s, or 3) print "Welcome Bunghole!" banners.

You're ON Gayle!

ima will arrive at Bourbon's Bistro on Friday evening for a special meeting of the Louisville Bourbon Society.

Still looking for a few good Samaritan's that will joyfully afford ima a bit of floor space, or just enough room in the driveway for my JEEP. ima might pee on your wife's peones, but having aquired sainthood they will be blessed!

See you soon, Gayle!
