Sampler Time 2007

Unread postby Bourbon Joe » Sat Feb 03, 2007 5:27 pm

I know it's a little early but I'm trying to firm up some plans. Do you think that there is a possibility that there could be a get together on Wednesday Night April 24 at the Bistro in Louisville. If this could be arranged, Fricky and I would love to attend. We just love getting together with y'all. Let us know. Thanks.

Joe,
I am sure we can do a Wednesday night at the Bistro. Maybe I can get some locals to show up and join us as well.

Linn,
It will be great to see you and the other people from the fine Commonwealth of Virginia at the Sampler. Howie Stoops called yeasterday and he will not be able to make it to the April Sampler, but is going to try to make it to the Frankfort Sampler in June. From what I have heard, that is the better Sampler to go to now. It is not as large and you get more time to talk to the distillers. Anybody else considering coming to the Frankfort Sampler?

Mike,

Just exactly when is the 'Frankfort Sampler'? Can I just show up anytime in June and expect to be sampled? Does it cost to get in, or does it cost to get out? How much does it cost and is there a link? Can I bring my super-beagle, "Whiskey Girl"? I didn't think Howie Stoops was allowed in Kentucky during the Spring Time. Good Night Frank Zappa Where Ever You Are!

I don't know when the Lexington sampler is being held, but I know when the far-more-exclusive West Chester, Ohio sampler is being held.
PM me for details, as we'll invite anyone else based on whenever you can make it.
There is no cost
Whiskey Girl is welcome (provided she acknowledges the sovereignty and absolute authority of the resident cats... as we do)
And regardless of Mr. Zappa, your brown shoes will do just fine.

Linn,
If you go to the Bardstown Tour...eh, Bourbon Festival site you will see that there is a Sampler at the Wildlife center in Frankfort on June 16th. I assume the cost is the same as the Bardstown Sampler. JD Knaebel and his wife Kirsten were at the Frankfort Sampler last year and said it was very much the superior event. More distillers and less people so you actually had a chance to have a long conversation with people like Jimmy Russell or Jerry Dalton. Since Howie said he could not come for the April event, I suggested he come in for the June Sampler. I plan to go to the Frankfort Sampler, but I think I will pass on the Bardstown Sampler this year. I will be content to visit with some friends that come down for the Sampler in April, without going to the event itself.

Maybe we can find some more vintage Stitzel Weller whiskey to enjoy as well. 8-)
