Just a reminder to those coming to the Sampler. On Wednesday we are getting a group together at the Bourbon's Bistro for dinner. I am sure some of the Bourbon Society people will be there and I am going to see if Julian and Preston are interested in joining us. I will bring a few things to taste and I am sure JD and Chuckmick will do the same. It will be a good time.

Joe, I'll be there too. I'll bring something you maybe haven't had.

Oops! Sorry Joe, I'm going to be riding on the Belle Of Louisville at 5 o'clock with the Four Roses people during the steamboat race. Maybe we can meet another time.

Gayle,
Have they moved the steamboat race this year? I thought the race was Derby week Wednesday.

Headed out for the long drive down starting this evening. See you at the Bistro!

For those of you around, we're hosting a cocktail party at Colonel's Cottage Pioneer Park (near Toddy's) in Bardstown Friday evening around sundown right after picking out barrel 2 of Red Hook Rye. Join us for some well made classics cocktails. If you think you are too good for cocktails, don't bore us with your presence. :cabbage:

Hope to see you soon!

The Bistro dinner was great. Only downside was I had to drive to Bardstown afterward! We finished off an amazing Old Crow bottling plus too many other good things to mention.

The cocktail party Friday night resulted in a pitcher of Brooklyn Cocktails (Van Winkle rye, Amer Picon, Chambery dry vermouth, Maraska maraschino), John Lippman's Kentucky Kiss, Van Brunts with Red Hook Rye, and some Sazeracs made with Red Hook Rye #1 and true distilled absinthe, plus many other old treats like Braddock 19 yr rye, Cabin Still Ducks Unlimited decanter, and many more. The Colonel's Cottage where we stayed this time right behind Toddy's was SO charming that I highly recommend it. Even Guthrie stopped by after work (he hated the Charbay whiskey which was fine with me and Drew cuz meant more for us.)

Gathering with folks who just make you want to pull out all the good stuff is so much fun, ain't it!

LeNell's Cocktail Party

Unread postby Bourbon Joe » Mon Apr 30, 2007 10:14 pm

Great time LeNell. That was the first Sazerac Cocktail I ever had and your new rye is magnificent. You and Ben were great hosts. I have attached several photos of this exceptional event. Even though they argue, as you can see John and Mike are great friends. Thanks LeNell and Ben.
