Gary,

Since it seems you're in NYC quite a bit, I'm a bit bummed that you don't hook up with your BE brethren whilst in town. Some may think so, but we really aren't that bad, you know!

You are right Bob! But you have to remember, most of these visits are of a business nature. That gives me a day or two at most (usually) to add on. Not a lot of time when you are in the city and even then that is only twice a year or so (many of my recollections are from years ago, before I joined SB). But your reminder is salutary. I am getting better too since I was at Lenells on my last visit. Next time we should meet for a beer somewhere, say Spuyten Devil in Brooklyn - I am getting more confident about visiting Brooklyn, I only got lost for a short time when trying to find LeNell's. :)

Gary,

Based on your posts regarding bars/liquor stores, you are obviously finding a little bit of time to mix some pleasure with your business! And I'm not saying the NY crowd will kidnap you for an entire day or weekend; I'm just saying if you're in town, let us know and we could meet up somewhere and toss a few. DBA's is my favorite bar in the city; I used to love Brewski's and Burp Castle around the corner. I know Brewski's isn't there any more, but do you know if Burp Castle is still in business? Have you ever been there?

I will definitely catch up with you guys there. I do get some time usually on a Saturday and Sunday and this is when most of my trolling is done to check out old places and new. In the retail stores, I often just walk in and out, but I learn what's new, prices, etc. (e.g. the new location of Astor Wines and Liquors is very interesting, more luxurious and spacious than the previous one). Sometimes it is on the way to seeing a show or from breakfast or something. Anyone who travels regularly on business (and I do some, not a lot) knows how hard it is to socialise when one is away: in fact there is little time but again your reminder is a good one and we will do this, we could meet at DBA, say. My reminiscences are I should add a distillation of 20 years of travelling to Manhattan...

Hi Mark & Gary!

My visit to NY was Great! Me and my son had a crazy long walk to the Lehnell store. We took the F train from Time Square to Caroll St. And walk all the way to the Store. They were very nice in the store but i think the selection were so so and the prices a bit high. I liked the store on 7th and Broadway much better. Great Bourbon and Scottish Single Malt selection. The prices on Bourbon was great, the price on the single malt of course much more expensive than in Europe, but still, a great selection there. The whole family just loved the Blue Smoke! What an atmosphere!!! We tried some great local beer and their own 18-year Bourbon!!! By the way, i bought a great Bourbon, Pogue at Lehnells! Thx for all the help. Next time I will try out some of the other places you guys recomended!! Cheers!
