Why, in my opinion, WT Tradition is better than WT Tribute

Now, boys and girls I am not about to take anything away from Wild Turkey Tribute (I probably bought 6 or 7 bottles of that stuff and still have about 2/3 of a bottle left), it is an exceptional bourbon and really has no flaws that I can identify.

Yet, Wild Turkey Tradition is a better bourbon.

Tribute has a heavenly aroma, full of delights for the nose. Things like caramel, maple syrup, rye, vanilla, oak, leather, smoke and char, all of which are truly seductive for bourbon lovers.

Yet, Wild Turkey Tradition is a better bourbon.

Tribute is thick, rich, deep, warm, creamy, and its sweetness and nutty nutmegy flavors abound and its warm spiciness provides a perfect foil to close out the gustatory experience every bourbon enthusiast loves.

Yet, Wild Turkey Tradition is a better bourbon.

How can this be?

All Wild Turkey bourbons have Jimmy Russell's stamp upon them. All have the self=same DNA and MUST be considered the equal of any spirit on the face of this earth (to say otherwise is to utter fightin words to this old Son of a Bitch from the Hard Scrabble South...........I ain't a fightin man, but I would go to War (toy guns, onliest thing I have real experience with) over Wild Turkey Bourbon y'all...........never you mind that I am as full of shit as a Christmas Turkey).

But, now y'all, ole Jimmy done reached way back for this one (or did he put his own hand on his son and say, 'Yo turn, boy, go to it). Either way, Jimmy is deep in this picture (pardon me, Mr Russell, we have never met and here I am talking about you as if I know something, which I must say, I don't). This is like a game y'all, and while playing is the most important thing you can do in this life, don't take none of this as if it was serious.........but then, the window to the universe can be as small as a sip of whiskey.

Just what does Tradition have that Tribute does not? It is factor X. I can not say exactly, and if I thought I could, you ought to be very suspicious of my pretentions...........we gots way, way, too many folks these days who think they know way, way too many answers (and they are being paid way, way too many bucks to prattle on). If you want detailed specification as to why Tradition is better than Tribute, you want too much.

But, I can tell you that Tradition is not as sweet as Tribute, is a little on the dry side, is more complex and 'mysterious' as it unfolds and challenges the palate, not with assertiveness, but with its 'earthy' base, which could only have come from the barrel (I think).

And you can wrangle a taste of Tradition, do so. Do so with proper attitude. Respect it, give it your attention, let it take you where it will. Do not set expectations for it, let it lead you, if you do not believe me, let bunghole be your guide on this one.

Well Mike I can't say that I disagree because I recently picked it over Tribute in a blind taste test.

I like 'em all! Kentucky Spirit; American Spirit, Tribute, Tradition, Rare Breed, Russel's Reserve, and the 12 & 8 year old 101's. As far as I know, I've never turned one down.

I can tell you what Tradition is missing and Tribute has in spades. Its a slightly sweet chocolate covered cherry flavor that goes from start to finish. It really jumps out at me. And I agree, the Tradtion has a drier profile and both are excellent whiskies. Both are priced about the same in my market.
