Wow!

Busted open a bottle of the 2009 earlier... first time I've ever tried this WLW.

My God... this stuff is amazing! The oily viscosity like Stagg... the huge warm velvety mouthfeel....

So well balanced... The chewiness... the tobacco, vanilla, oak, apple, fig, raisins, clove... what a great finish...

I can understand how this bourbon is not for everyone... It's got it's own thing going on for sure... Personally, I'm really enjoying it :)

Ahh my 09 stash is hiding in my basement still haven't cracked any of them yet.

Nice to read that you like it. Do you like it better than the 09 Stagg and how do you like it against the 08 WLW?

I'm having Thanksgiving over here this year and I'm worried if I crack it, it will disappear quite fast! I'm thinking about sacrificing a Pappy 15 this year.

I've not opened any of my 09 Stagg yet... though I may have to tonight to compare.

This is the first time I've ever tried any WLW... so can't compare to past years.

I don't think it would go too fast... with that alcohol content...

I just tried the Pappy 15 last night.. Also fantastic stuff!

Yeah, you are right about it probably not going to fast. My bunker is mostly comprised of stuff I cant get here and limited and dusty things. I'm trying to keep building and not tear through it all.

I liked the 08 WLW alot, but some have said they think the 09 is even better. I love the high proofers, much less work!

Turns out I had a stray 08 WLW sitting around. Opened that up to compare...

You're right... the 08 is really nice as well :) Perhaps a little warmer mouthfeel...a bit easier to drink than the 09.

Quite a bit of difference between the 08 and 09 actually.

The higher alcohol content in the 09 is definitely noticeable.

I think the 09 WLW is better than the 08 WLW, the nose on this is just unbelievable.

Paul are you sniffing whiskey again?

Good news, I have more 09 than 08.

The 09 WLW is by far 1 of the best bourbons I've ever tasted. It is so good I bunkered 7 and have 1 almost gone. I also have the 05, 07 and 08 to compare it to 1 day, I'm just missing the 06 and I will be good to go.

I like the '09 WLW, but I do give the '08 the edge. I think the palate & finish is a bit rougher on the '09 and a bit dry (which seems strange for a wheater). Still, it's excellent . . . I'd rank the one's I've had this way from best to least: '06, '08, '09, '07 . (although, they're all great).

Agreed... The 09 is tasty..... but to be contrary, I will disagree with Andys assessment. My ranking is as follows:

05
08
09
06
07

I have only the 08 and 09 to rank... and the more I drink, the more I like the 08.

Looking forward to trying the '09. My favorite so far is the '06 which I found to be a superb, balanced bourbon. Before the '09, the '06 was the highest proof to date was well as the oldest.

Well that's great news for me since I have 4 08's and 6 09's.

I haven't cracked an 09 yet. In the new year it will be my first priority.
