Folks,
In keeping with out bourbon buying ways, we selected 9-10 barrels this week.

From Buffalo Trace:
• Old Weller Antique*
• Elmer T Lee*
• Buffalo Trace
• Baby Saz
• Rock Hill Farm
• Eagle Rare

Four Roses:
• Single Barrel*
• Cask Strength, non chill filtered – first group to make the selection for this

Willett:
• 6 year
• 13 year

* tri-site barrel – BourbonDrinker, BourbonEnthusiast and Lock&Key – like last year

Great selection all the way around. Timothy (BarTurtle), Howie (Stoopsie) Reid (CigarNV), DougDog (Doug) Steve (Sailor), and I participated in all of the tastings… The Willetts are something special. These are just great barrels and the 6 year is something remarkable. Blows the doors off the other 6 years that I have had. The other gents will have to give their impressions, but we were all in unison on the Willett selections.

Once the bottles are in, I will let everyone know. This year we will keep it simple. You will just call up Julio’s and order what you want.

For those of you that made it, you know how much fun we had, for those that did not make the Trek… … … at least you get to share in the bounty.

I'm still kinda new to this forum but I would love to get a hold of a bottle or 2. I just have a few questions. What or who is Julio's? Is it a store? Can they ship to Florida? And what forms of payment does he take?

Also being quite new to the forum, I'd like the info on how to get any of these bottles (if possible).

Thank you!

Kevin

Am I reading what they have to say regarding shipping wrong or can they ship to me in Indy?

"WE ONLY SHIP WITHIN MASSACHUSETTS"

The Six year got everyones attention as soon as we tasted it. It was the second barrel we tasted and when we visited it again later that evening it was still just as good.
The 13 is way sexy too. It has been a few days and more than a few pours since my last taste but if memory serves it has a big front of flavors that come back big time for a super finish.

As you might expect with Bump Ducket leading the tasting these two Bourbons are pretty aggressive - and that's a good thing.

All the Julios 4r's were impressive - particularly the single barrel BUT if Ryan chose the barrel we voted on it is so light it won't produce many bottles - Jim Rutlidge said perhaps as few as 22 to 24. As I understood it the 18 people that were there have first call on those. But that's Ryan's decision and I'm not sure where that stands. There was another fuller barrel that was a very close second and he may have bought that one too in which case there will be plenty.

I don't have a clear memory of what differences the BT barrels had from the shelf versions but there was some really good Bourbon in those samples so I'm expecting some sweet juice to be in those too.

TASTING TIP; Never follow Bump Ducket on his second round because all the best pours will be gone.

So did anyone keep any notes on the Four Roses barrel selection samples? I am really curious as to what was selected. How many of the mashbill/yeast combinations were tasted and if there were any notes as to which were most popular?

The FR, ER, Baby Saz, BT, ETL are all in at Julio's.

Give them a call and tell them you are from BE.com and want to get some of the Bourbon Crusade bourbon from 2008 or 2009 to get the discount.... (508) 366-1942

All of the juice is great again, so buy as many as you want knowing it is great stuff.

The RHFs ad OWA will be in later.

I looked through the photos, and it appears you guys chose:
OBSQ (High/Floral) and
OESK (Low/Spicy)

Is that right? Were these the standard Single Barrel program or the new Barrel Strength, Unfiltered program?
