My brewing partner and whiskey drinking buddy and I got together yesterday afternoon to have a few sips and it turned into an afternoon and evening sipping fest. We did no blind tastings but informally ranked the following whiskies as to our preference for that day.
On hand for the 'sipping' were the following: Wild Turkey Tribute; Wild Turkey 12 YO; A H Hirsch 16 YO; Four Roses Single Barrel; Pappy 15 YO; Ron's 4 grain vatting (33% Stagg, 33% Maker's Mark, and 33% Evan Williams 1783); Mike's vatting of 50% Wild Turkey Russel's Reserve 101 and Eagle Rare 101; and Jack Daniel's 1954.
The only precaution we took was drinking from similiar glasses. Other than that it was completely unregulated and informal and we were doing it just for the fun of it and attach no meaning to this 'sipping' other than its entertainment value.
The rankings were as follows:
Mike
WT 12 YO
Four Roses SB
Hirsch 16 YO
WT Tribute
Pappy 15 YO
Ron's 4 Grain
Mike's RR & ER
Jack Daniel's 1954
