Buffalo Trace Antique Collection?

Unread postby JimC » Sun Nov 06, 2005 10:31 am

Has anyone seen the new Antique Collections on the shelves yet? Is there any early word on production numbers?

Yeah, no sight of them yet and no production numbers. All I got was info on each one that was posted here:

About a week and a half back I heard from the local Sazerac rep and a knowledgeable store owner that the new line would be out "in the next week or so". Who knows... I'll give a yell if it pans out.

Is it not out in KY - anyone?

A well known California merchant is offering it & the William LaRue - It does not sound like it is a "pre"-order either.

BTW they advertise it as 140º

Pennsylvania has the new George T. Stagg for about $47 ($43.99 + tax). They do not currently have William Larue Weller.

Just got an email from the same "well known CA retailer" as WL mentioned.
$60 a bottle  , all seem to be in stock.

Edited my last post since I'm not sure if there are rules on posting retail sources... sorry.

Linn,
I tasted the entire collection at the Philadelphia Whiskey Fest. Only 1/2 ounce pours so I could not not rate in detail but first impressions follow:
ER-17 - Classic ER-17. Very similar profile to years past.
Stagg - They held the Stagg profile very well. Finishes very dry.
William Larue Weller - Very sweet front end. Sweet middle palate. I liked it (but I'm partial to wheaters)
Sazerac - Very fruity and flowery like past Sazeracs.
Hope this helps.
Joe

Incidentally, now it's advertised as "141.2" PF

Well, I guess by now everyone has their fill of the antique collection. In Pennsylvania we got everything except the WLW. I guess we all have to hunker down now and evaluate this stuff.

I was able to score one each of the fancy data sheets that come in each 3-bottle case. They list the ingredients, distillation/aging details, and production numbers. Is this data already available elsewhere, or is there enough interest to justify me typing all this data in?

Maybe try scanning them first (may only need to copy / paste) after doing so instead of typing each sheet's data.

Mike,
That would be very intersting information. I am interested and I suspect many others are as well.
Thank You
