While I am not sure about the batch # I am sure about the Bourbon.
Keep it... DRINK IT... it is excellent Bourbon. If you are not a Bourbon drinker
pass it on to someone who will enjoy it.
Having a signed bottled from Mr.Russell is a gift, I met him and he was a true gentleman.

Just bought my first Rare Breed. I hope it equals Russell's Reserve.

RR is a lot like RB. Just a little thinner to me. I like them both, but I like RB better.

In many conversations I've had with Jimmy Russell he has always maintained that, despite the Tributes, the Kentucky Spirits, the Russell's Reserves, and all the others, his own personal choice has always been Rare Breed. The mixture of the different ages produces the kind of bourbon that he enjoys the most, and that's what he drinks. When I drink Wild Turkey and I want to drink what one of the last of the true Master Distillers drinks, I choose Rare Breed.

OTOH, if your'e buying, I'll drink any Wild Turkey you want to place in front of me; there just AIN'T NO Wild Turkey I DON'T like.

I've had those same conversations with Jimmy and I agree with him. Rare Breed is delicious.

That's VERY interesting.

I just tried the Russel's Reserve small batch last month, and I was VERY impressed.

I found it had most of what I loved about Parker's Heritage Promise Of Hope. POH is definitely nicer, but Russel's Reserve has much more of the same effects going on than I expected at less than half the price!

Then I go and read the Bourbon Family Tree and find out that both POH and RR have IDENTICAL mashbills. Hooray for my amateur taste buds!

I had always been afraid to try Wild Turkey. Thought it would be rough and nasty. Reading these comments and some by Mike I now realize I need to visit WT and try out their entire line up.

I bought the RR single barrel, but haven't opened it yet. It will be interesting to see how it compares with Rare Breed.

Jimmy Russel, Jim Rutledge, Parker Beam - all studs. I hope they have been as good at educating the next generation as they have been at making bourbon!
