A sip or two of JW Black Label and then some VOB BIB. I enjoy both Scotch and Bourbon, what can I say?

Just cracked my first bottle of Buffalo Trace and, truthfully, not liking it much. Not even close to 2 of my old favorites Woodford Reserve and Baker's - heck, i have even had Elija Craig 12yo that's pleased me more...what can I say, it's very subjective!

Tonight I had a small pour of Old Ezra 101. It's got quite a kick and a long finish. Quite a bit of flavor for a bourbon of this price.

I decided to try it based on the price, proof and the fact that it is aged 7 years. This bourbon is charcoal filtered and is the first product I've tried that is so. I've never had a Tennessee Whiskey. There seems to be a taste I'm not familiar with, maybe it's from the charcoal.

Overall I'd say it was a good buy.

I had some Fighting Cock and Very old Barton 6/yo 86 proof. I can't tell enough difference between this stuff and the more expensive small batch stuff. Most bourbon is very good when compared to other whiskeys from places like Canada, Ireland and Scotland. Our stuff made in in Kentucky is the best whiskey in the world.

Today is our wedding anniversary and my wife bought me a bottle of Bunnahabhain 12 year old and it is fabulous! I know this is primarily a bourbon board but I can't help but to share this delicious whisky with all of you. Cheers!

This evening my dog Barleycorn and I, after considering the alternatives, came up with a combination of two very good bourbons with very different tastes and strengths. A sip of the 12 YO Old Fitzgerald revealed its softness and earthy tastes, but was just not what we wanted. Another sip of Old Granddad 114, especially after the OF was a bit much, so the dog says lets mix 'em.

So 50% Old Granddad 114 and 50% Old Fitzgerald 12 YO met at midfield and shook hands. The result was a very nice bourbon of around 102 proof. It has some excellent barrel flavors and a nice jolt of rye spice to it............. excellent bourbon!

The dog is usually right in these matters I've found.

I will be having Bulleit Rye, Jim Beam Black (giving it another chance), Bunnahabhain 12 yr. old and Ardbeg 10 yr. old. Probably in that order. Certainly with the Ardbeg being the last. I may substitute the Bunnahabhain with Dalwhinnie 15 yr. old....decisions, decisions.
