Had some of the E.H. Taylor "Tornado" tonight. I like it. Also had some Beam 200 month old from 1976 the other day. WOW, that stuff knocked my socks off. Gooooooood.

I have a bottle of RR 1792. Think I'll give it and Ginger Ale a try. Anywho, I'm having Jim Beam Black on the rocks.

Very Old Barton BIB in a mint julep. Absolutely fantastic on a nice, hot day like this. I can see why people consider this one of the best value pours!

Tonight it was 4-Roses Small Batch. We had some folks over for a cookout. Instead of the usual beers, I served small glasses of whiskey with big glasses of ice water. Everyone enjoyed the change... and the 4-Roses!

I pretty much gave up beer a few years back. I was on a business trip and and a pari of large Fosters drafts at the outback. Felt bloated and sick and I said never again. Beer is okay, but the belching, bloating and peeing that goes with it isn't worth it. A double shot of bourbon on ice is much better. I had a 1792 Ridgemont Reserve memorial day and it was GOOD!

Just got my first bottle of Jim Beam Black the other day... Really enjoying it. Very sweet!! Probably the sweetest bourbon I've had yet, although its not very complex.

I see a few people in this thread enjoy JBB on the rocks... what do you guys feel is the difference in tasting notes with ice vs neat? Any new flavors pop up when had with ice?

I really like the JBB... though I'm not sure it can compete with BT which is only a few dollars more here. I really wish it was just a bit cheaper, as I like it better then EWB... but EWB is literally half the price when comparing handles. I guess my point is, JBB would be an incredible value pour... though (for me) it's price is just a touch out of the comfortable 'value pour' price range.

EWB: $15 per handle
JBB: $30 per handle

If JBB could live in say, the $22-$25 per handle range, I'd never look back to EWB.

Anyway, back on topic --- I'll be enjoying some JBB tonight while watching The Killing with my wife. :)

ADDED:

Weird... only 3-4 days after opening the bottle, the sweetness has all but disappeared and all that's left is the oak. Anyone one else with similar experience with JBB?
