Basil Hayden. I got this bottle free from my boss for working on a special project. I like it, smooth with a nice herbal and spice flavor, short finish. Interesting and very easy to drink. Don't think I would shell out $38/750ml though.

Michter's US-1 small batch NAS bourbon. It has a distinctive cinnamon note and a nice mouthfeel. I enjoy their barrel strength rye. I'd be interested in a barrel strength bourbon if they were to release one.

Evening started off with some Knob Creek single barrel. Love this expression. It wasn't too long and I was down to less than a finger left in the glass. Rather than top it off with more 120, I picked up the Henry McKenna single barrel instead. I would guess the mix at 70% HMSB / 30% KCSB. Whatever the ratio, man oh man oh man was it good! I will definately try this one again!

Cheers
Mr. G

Edit: Tried this mixture a couple of times and will say it's quite exceptional. Somewhere around 65-70% McKenna and 30-35% KC 120. I suggest the vatter's out there give it a try.

I got me a bottle of the 1792 Full Proof. I find this to be really good stuff.

Bought a bottle of Colonel E. H. Taylor small batch last week. Local liquor store was out of Four Roses small batch and this was on the shelf. I'll have to say it's pretty darn good.

RG

Followup: Had some more of this Taylor today and I'll say I really like this stuff. Very easy drinker. Definately keeping this one on the shelf.

Went in for some Woodford Reserve last night. It's been quite some time since I danced with this one and I must say she still has the moves. This bottle has been in the cabinet a while and is down to it's last inch or so. It has lost some of it's pot still character and is not as hot/spicy as I recall in the past. Really good bourbon!

Well it is Election Day once removed and, in celebration of it all being over, I dug back in the cabinet and found some Single Malt as well as an almost empty bottle of Woodford Rsv. Poured the last three fingers of the Woodford over a cube and settled in to a night free from all things political. I got a book yet to read and heck a few more to write. Anyway it is time for everyone to relax and let it all sink in.
Enjoy

Being in Alabama, I'm gonna have a pour of Virgin Bourbon. Seven years old and 101 proof.

Found a bottle of Virgin bourbon at a Virginia ABC store last week, $13 for a 7 year old 101 proof I just couldn't pass it up. Should have gotten two bottles.

I had a nice pour of Evan William white label bottled in bond. I like this pretty good, youngish and corny, almost like a corn whiskey. I think it need ice so that's how I enjoy it. Okay mid palate spice with a licorice finish. Needs more barrel influence.

Well I'm not in Alabama but can get there in 15 minutes so the next time I cross State lines heading East think I'll pick up some Virgin Bourbon.

It's a no brainer for 13 bucks. Get a case.

It's standard HH stuff but at 7 years and 101 proof it's still flying under radar and is surprisingly cheap. If you come across it (limited distribution) by all means buy a case.
