You're not kidin', and only $25! "A real find." = understatement of the year. Party on Joe!

just got back from Julio's Whiskey Wednesday where Jimmy Russell was making an appearance and tastings of wt101, rr,rrr, wtks and wtrb. I own all the stuff that they were giving out but they had one special I could not pass up which was American Spirit at $59.95 which I had Mr. Russell autograph and it also came in a neato wooden box.

Also purchased:

Julio's Knob Creek single barrel (in neato wooden box with clear plastic silk screened lid)
Loch & K(e)y Jefferson's Presidential Select (single barrel 18 year old Stitzel-Weller juice, bottle #23)

I like Knob Creek so a single barrel sounds great to me, the box was a bonus
I was hypnotized by the Jefferson bottle and it made me buy it.

I took advice from the Mikes above and picked up some Ezra Brooks.

Also came across a bottle of PVW 15 for a decent price and figured it was time to try that, too.

Picked up a bottle of 4Roses single barrel, barrel strength hand-selected OESO... and it is easily one of the top five bottles I have or have had. The nose is a great floral/berry mix (although you can pick up some spice in it), and the finish is warming with some cinnamon and roasted-nut (but not harsh at all).

Still looking to pick up one more bottle to have in house right now... either a 4Roses Mariage (2009) or Michter's 10yr... any thoughts from those who have tried those?

The Mariage is now being replace with the "Limited Edition Small Batch". It's very good, and it is a blend of three recipes.

picked up a bottle of Benchmark single barrel, the rather old looking sticker said: 20.79

hope it is good!

edit: the cork/stopper broke off in the neck of the bottle, so it must be an old bottle, presenting me a challenge I didn't want.

edit #2: cork didn't come out, it went in. :( the Bourbon is delicious, smooth and wonderful. Luckily I have a wine cork in a drawer so I stopper my bottle.

There is a 78 on the bottom of the bottle, am I to believe that is when it was bottled? The lable has a bar code on it, I didn't think bar codes were around then. But, I have been wrong before.

picked up a bottle of Heaven Hill white 8 year old and Heaven Hill gold label bottled in bond, I like the gold label better neat. I love the white lable mixed into a old fashioned.

I also picked up a 50 ml of Jim Beam, that white lable. I don't like it.

Brought home a case of 2010 Stagg and a case of 2010 WLW. You gotta buy it when you find it.

Willett Pot Still Reserve and Johnny Drum from a store in the Tribeca area of NYC. $37 and $24 respectively. Since others have listed quite higher prices for these I decided I better get 'em before someone realizes they were priced too low.

I added two 2010 ER-17's today to the rest of my BTAC stash. I gotta stop buying bourbon for a while.

Visited the twin cities metropolis over the weekend, and since I was there, I thought I'd look around at some bourbon stores. One fine place offered samples of some spirits, so I sampled Buffolo Trace, which was very nice. They had Old Overholt for the lowest price I've seen it, $11. They had Rittenhouse Rye, so I bought a bottle of that, and enjoyed some on Saturday night.

Sunday night we found a Mexican place for supper and I again sampled Makers Mark, I still don't like it. Maybe it was the pairing of the mexican food/chips and salsa that made it taste goofy? dunno.

Also bought: a bottle of Old Crow Reserve (at a different store) which I'm about to sample.

These 2 purchases are bottles I have not seen in stores before...One store had somethign I think was called Corner Creek? $21 I didn't have quite enough cash on hand, but had enough credit cards to buy their entire inventory...but they don't accept cards. dumb, in my opinion.
