Virgin Bourbon, 101 Proof, 7 Year Old

Unread postby BourbonDrinker » Fri Jul 13, 2007 7:22 pm

While browsing the shelves of one of my better stocked local bourbon-friendly liquor stores I spied a bottle I've never seen before.

Virgin Bourbon
Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
101 Proof
7 Years Old

Bottled in Kentucky by
Meadowlawn Distilling Co.
Bardstown, Kentucky

While it piqued my interest, I didn't dare invest in the 750mL bottle, instead deciding to grab the 200mL. The 750mL bottle was less than $12... My expectations are extremely low so maybe, just maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. We shall see! More to follow.

Tried the Virgin Bourbon Friday night. Not too impressed. The nose is horrible---nothing but alcohol. The taste is sweet and relatively smooth and this finish is quite sweet but short.

This bottle reminds me a lot of Jack Daniel whiskey.

There are various ages of 'virgin' whiskey made for export. I have or had a 21yo bottle that was dipped in silver wax but never did try it. The 21yo silver has a picture in the database.

No, I never did. I may still have that 21yo bottle but I really am not sure. I sold off a bunch of bottles over a year ago and it may have been one of the many to go. Ill look for it next time I have a reason to empty out the boxes upon boxes that are under my basement steps where the rare botles are stashed.
