I finally took that damn whiskey out of the freezer. I had put in a Riedel glass of Van Winkle 10 year and covered it with aluminum foil. Ben and I poured a warm and tasted with the cold. We both thought the warm came across as dryer with more alcohol in the nose than the cold. The chill seemed to dull down the nose, but the taste seemed to explode when it hit the wamth of our tongue. The mouth feel is more viscous, of course, and the flavors seemed a bit intensified in the cold. Ben wonders if the few days in the freezer didn't lower the alcohol content through evaporation.
