Summer Bourbon

Summer's here, and the time is right for drinkin' bourbon on the porch. On a hot summer evening, bourbon over ice, and perhaps a generous splash of water on top, can be quite enjoyable and refereshing. We first tried the Booker Noe endorsed "Kentucky tea" several years ago with Booker's, and (perhaps it is the power of suggestion) I thought it was phenomenal. It is the yardstick by which I measure all light, iced, watered summer bourbon. Although they don't require as much water, other brands of favorite summer bourbon over ice include:

EW 1783
AAA
Weller Antique
Weller SR
IWH

What do you like over ice in the summer?

Back porch, two cubes in a glass with Birthday Bourbon (it's my birthday.........I must be old, old, cause I think I fought in the War Between the States), my dog, and my beautiful wife, who, for a birthday present helped me buy some hearing aids (them sons a bitches are LOUD) so's I can understand her and hear the birds and crickets again.

Unfortunately, I now hear Barleycorn better and that damn dog is forever complaining about something.............I guess it's a dog's life. My fault though, I have spoiled him rotten. If he wasn't a good friend, I would fire his ass as a pet.

You know how it is with these people who got serious flaws and drive you crazy, but you love 'em anyway'. My wife seems to love me anyway!

:happybdayflame: Mike B in GA :!:

ima has to agree with Prof. Veach on the 12 year old Old Charter 'Classic 90' - it's an all time bunghole favorite.

add to that it's stablemate - I.W. Harper (same mashbill) 15 year old! This is some great and easy drinking bourbon that is just right on the rocks for the summertime blues.

Without the water,,, Basil Hayden is the perfect summer sippin' whiskey. (I just know I'm going to get some feedback on this one...)
