The Wild Turkey Russell's Reserve bourbon is a very good ten year old bourbon. But, by me lights, it gave up too much when it went from 101 proof to 90 proof. Story was that they were running out of juice so they resorted to using the water spigot, and they did it too with the wonderful rye and their bread and butter 101.
Before me I have both the 101 RR and the 90 RR. Strangely (leastways to me), the 90 proof smells more of rye and the 101 smells more of leather and vanilla and oak. Mayhap that ain't so strange, since the 101 RR has a power more richness, sweetness, greater viscosity, and is a far more interesting bourbon.
The accountants at Wild Turkey run (and ruin) the house.
Wild Turkey! You done us wrong!
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rage at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light. - Dylan Thomas
