Bourbon bottle storage

As summer approaches, and my unairconditioned house heats up to 80-90 degrees each day, it begs the question: Should I keep my extra unopened bottles at the bar, or down in the cellar where it is cool? Any opinions or data?

High-proof spirits don't continue to age in the bottle, and bourbon has survived such temperature extremes (to their, and our, benefit!) already while in the barrel, so I doubt that your home's high temps will matter. That said, if I had a more temperate storage space, I'd probably use it.

High Temps could blow a few corks if the liquid heats enough, but otherwise there should be no problems. Do keep the bottle out of direct sunlight - that will hurt the flavor.

While I am in no position to state otherwise from those who have already commented, my thinking is SAFE over SORRY. If you have a cooler safer place why not utilize it? It sure beats having an after the fact experience to share with us...
