Corn - organic or genetically modified?

So corn is main ingredient of our favorite liquid.
I do not want to post exact percentage since I do not know it but I'm sure we are all aware of majority of USA corn being genetically modified.

Anyone ever gave it thought?

I'm sure most (if not all) bourbon or American whisky in general are made out of GM corn as it's a lot cheaper and widely available. I do not mean to sound like a paranoid "it’s all corporate America to blame" organic psycho but for some reason I could't help but think of it last night as I was sipping on Knob Creek.
I don't even know how I feel about it - is it bad? worse than "back in the days", whatever?
How does it affect taste? Are there distilleries that use only organic corn? I would sure like to try it to see if it's any different.

You sound like a typical radical liberal! It's BOURBON! Get rid of you attitude and just enjoy bourbon. Of course it's made with corn. What's with this CORPORATE attitude you have??

You just exposed yourself.

Interesting observation, but it is flawed. The organic crowd is obsessed with healthy living. Spirits are inhehrently unhealth if consumed excessively.

I think organic bourbon would be a tough sell, but its worth a try, why not rip-off the granola Volvo crowd?

Secular religious farming communities can supply this mat'l. IDK in what amounts. Otherwise, a timeline of pre-cloning era whiskey is on the shelves now, older stuff. Drawing a distinction between accelerated natural selection, and cross species genetic cherry picking, which can only end badly.

I can't speak for all the distilleries but I know Four Roses does not use GM corn. I think most if not all do not either as the european markets will not accept products made from it. How long they can keep doing this time will tell.

Your reply made me look into some stuff and apparently Wild Turkey also uses non-modified corn.

Awesome dam spammers....
As for the topic I really don't care what they make the whiskey with as long as the flavor is good. If they can make it with horse crap and it comes out like George T Staag my name will be on the waiting list. Just my two cents 8-)

I'm glad whiskey makers have already thought about this I remember on the WT tour them mentioning no GMO corn being used. Take some damn pride on what you are selling, america.

Jim Rutledge, Master Distiller at Four Roses, is on record as saying they use non-GM corn to satisfy the demands of their Asian and European customers but the quality of the whisky is the same if made with GM corn.
