Kentucky Bourbon Hot Dogs

Unread postby bourbonv » Sun May 09, 2010 11:19 am

This is a recipe from Albert Schmid's cookbook. I tried it and it was very good.

Ingredients
8 Hot Dogs (a 1 pound package)
1 cup Kentucky Bourbon (I used Charter 101)
1/8 teaspoon of Tabasco sauce (I used a little more than that)
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup brown sugar
Hot Dog Buns

Boil water in a sauce pan or skillet (enough water to cover hot dogs) and simmer them for a few minutes. In a saucepan mix the bourbon, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, Ketchup and brown sugar. Heat the sauce and simmer until it is reduced by half. Dip the dogs into the sauce and place on buns, adding more sauce to taste.

Makes for a great Derby dish.

This is a great recipe to use for the guys watching football and give them a little change of routine. The rest of us will enjoy it too. Would taste good around the campfire before roasting s'mores.
