Surprising that it carries so much rye...since, it is a low rye mashbill used for Benchmark, BT, Old Charter, Eagle Rare and Stagg.
Does it compare at all to ERSB?

I've had the 101 and I get spicy tones from that as well. I also get it from Old Charter.

Yeah, you're right. I wonder if that has something more to do with the barrel and aging process?

I definitely think that their changing over to dry yeast has changed their distillate away from their fat, sweet profile. With the addition of the Barton profile...they should be able to recreate it without any issue.

Could be proof also. This is 94, the ER101 was spicy and I get more spice from the Charter 101 than the other Charter expressions.

Don't count out the yeast. Many spice notes in bourbon actually come from the yeast and fermentation.
