Several 'Nots', and 'Buts', and 'Doesn'ts, in your review say it all and come close to denying your final 'value' statement. In the low $20 range there are some much better bourbons in my opinion (e.g. Old Forester 'Signature' at about $20). Although it may speak more to the difficiencies of my palate than to their bourbons, few of the Barton Bourbons (I am sure that I have not had their best because they have not been available to me) please me.

Good point.....I guess when I start off reviewing a bourbon, I WANT to like it, and try to find something redeeming to say about it. After all, it is somebody's "baby" so to speak. That and the fact that I typically just laid down some hard earned dollars for it, lol. I think I probably need to take a more objective approach to my reviews. Sometimes it just isn't gonna do much for me and if that's the case, let it be said!

I also agree that in that low $20s range, there are better to be had. A few of my own favorites fall into that category (some of the WLWellers), but don't necessarily fit the taste profile that the Barton folks probably have in mind with the 1792.

Thanks for the comment....I'll try to be a little less wishy-washy with future reviews!

I have the same problem in wanting to like a bourbon and ending up somewhere on the fence about it (I tried and tried to like 1792 myself). Not a thing wrong with your review from my point of view.

As to being more objective...........well, I am not against bringing in subjectivity, especially in the form of some associations, metaphors, etc., etc., as you can see by perusing my own reviews (some folks likes 'em..........some folks don't..........that's OK).
