The current Ezra Brooks is IMO a good bang for the buck and has replaced Even Williams as my everyday bourbon, since EW has sought to lower the proof but not the price.

I found the current version...quite raw. Not too much in the barrel flavor range. I doubt the Luxco is getting HH's best juice for EB. Especially if you take a look at Rebel Yell, recently. It is the lightest color bourbon I have seen in sometime. I would guess that their money is not going as far as it used to when they purchased bulk whisky. So, they traded down on age which lightened the color a bit.

The older Ezra from Medley is downright impressive.

Jeff,
I really should not have said current as all my bottles are from several years ago. These are all very drinkable and are not what you describe in the more modern stuff. I guess I'll have to nurse these.

Are they some of the seven year from Heaven Hill? I guess that Medley sold them to HH with many of his other labels??? He also sold them some of his aging stocks after the fire in 1996. Maybe, that is where that stuff went?

Well Jeff, your review prompted me to go back to the store where you bought this and buy the last 2 - 750 mls and 2 - 375 mls they had. You are spot on , this stuff is fantastic. There are no rough edges here like there are on the current product. This is in a whole different league or shelf. Could someone please tell them to start making it like this again? Thanks!

is the current with the 'fake' cork?

i just finished a bottle with the 'real' cork....it was nice, but not mind-blowing. but what did i expect, at $10.99. at that price, it was very much a bargain. add to that, the $2 rebate.

Joe,
could you list the upc's, bottle dates, and distilling/bottling sites for all three of those rare Ezra labels. Thanks.

Ezra Brooks 90 is a good value. I don't find it particularly good for sipping, but it's fine for on the rocks or mixing. The Old Ezra 99 proof 12 yr. is nice for sipping neat.

Jeff, I'll give ya what I have from my database:
15 y/o 101 - 85676 Frankfort
7 y/o 101 - 88352 Sherman
12 y/o No UPC's from the late 60's. From decanters.
I don't know the distilleries and bottle dates because they are buried somewhere in cases in the bunker.
