When I'm not drinking WTRB this is the one that steps in and takes its place. It's a great 107. Love this stuff... nice review Mike. I have the 90 here at the moment. BB

Mike,

I too enjoyed your review. To me, this is an example of bourbon at its finest.

What are your comments on the RVW 107 versus the 90? BB

I personally prefer the 107 (moe robust), but think the 90 is excellent too!

Bob,
Was your comment based on the old SW juice or have you had the new Bernheim stuff? If so, do you still hold your opinion?

Joe,
If I am not mistaken, all of the 15yo Old Rip Van Winkle will be from Stitzel-Weller. The Bernheim whiskey came with the label change to Pappy 15 yo.

Joe,

I'm referring to the goods from Stizel Weller. I'm most familiar with it, but will have to compare it to the Pappy 15 one of these days. I'm honestly not sure how I think that they compare to one another. :?

My Good; Fine, and Well Respected Brother has posted 5 reviews of this wonderful bourbon. I've just reviewed them all, and if you do the same you will see just how much a man's perception can shift over time. I am here to testify that is a good thing, and that the very same thing has happened to me, but on a much greater scale.

I used to loath wheated bourbon's. I hated Maker's Mark with a passion equal only to Scottish whiskies (which I still dislike).

15 year old 107 proof Rip Van Winkle turned my anti-wheater world upside-down. I liked it, and after drinking a lot of it - I found that I loved it. A lot. Maybe a bit too much.

DRINK IT MAN, DRINK IT!

Linn

So Linn,
I guess I get the credit for slipping that 15yo Old Rip into the mix at the Getz Museum in 2001 and forever changing your perception of a wheated bourbon? I guess it was kinda unfair to place you in that spot, but for the record, you were not the only one who failed to recognize it as a wheated bourbon. Do you remember the only one in the "class" to get it right?

Yes, Professor Veach, it's all your fault - you Stitzel-Weller swilling historian! And yes, John Lipman was the only 'student' in the class to get it right.

BLEEEEE :!:

Linn

And John makes sure to remind me of that fact from time to time (The time is usually about 11:30 at night in his tasting room at his house). I think he was rather pleased with that accomplishment!
