Before I was a fisherman in Guadeloupe and French Polynesia, then I worked in advertising and I was terribly bored! For six years I make a Pure Corn Whiskey 42% Vol. "Tawny Corn Whiskey" and although this does not always me a rich man ... At least I am happy!

Welcome to the forum Tawny! Very, very glad to have you here.

I see your whiskey is barrelled in used cooperage, but the barrel has been charred by a peat fire. I'm interested to know where your corn and cooperage comes from. Are the used barrels from Scotch (which inturn most likely held Bourbon first)?

At the risk of being forward, there are so many questions I'd love to ask you. I hope someday you can make it to the fine state of Kentucky. In the meantime, I'll toast you with some clear corn from the hills of Washington County...

Brendaj Thank you for this wonderful welcome!

My barrels are assembled in Switzerland for me, it's a mix of three different oak… a "blend" Quercus Robur - Alba - Petraea.

The aging barrels is made at home.

"Accelerated" by the filling and emptying of virgin alcohol again every month for 6 months.

Through this process, these barrels are not new.

At the end, she used to aging for a minimum of four years.

My corn is grown exclusively in switzerland

So I hope that my response is understandable because unfortunately for me I do not speak English

TAWNy,
Your English is very good - at least compared to my German!

It is very interesting that you make your own corn whiskey. What proof do you distill at and at what proof do you put it in the barrel?

Hello Bourbonv,

55% Vol. Average!
Between the heads and tails, I still leaves between 70% Vol. And 40% Vol.

My barrels receive never water.
Many alcohol is lost after 4 years of ageing!

PS: in Switzerland, we have four national languages ... 1-The Swiss-German, 2 - The Swiss-Italian, (which are incomprehensible dialects for the German and Italian people) and even 3 - the Romanche (beautiful Latin language ), and 4 - the french. I come from the French-speaking part. Between Geneva and Lausanne

Bonjour M. Tawny.

(Hello Mr. Tawney. I too bid you welcome in this community devoted to all things concerning whiskey (especially the American form of whiskey). Why did you decide to distill from corn? Is there a tradition in Switzerland to distill in this fashion? If not, what distilling tradition exists in your countryÉ Do you sell your products on the market, if so, where?).

Mes excuses pour un francais qui n'est pas, certes, ma lange maternelle.

(Apologies for my French which is not to be sure my mother tongue).

Sincerely,

Gary

It would be great if you could visit us for the Bourbon Sampler or Bourbon Festival, both in Bardstown Kentucky and bring along a bottle to put up against some of our corn whiskies. I think it would be interesting. Sampler is near end of April and Festival is in mid September. You would be most welcome.

Dear Gillmang and BourbonJoe,
Many thanks for your interest and especially for his incredible Gillmang message in french ... It has been a real surprise !

You should know that in Switzerland the distillation of cereal was illegal ... It is only since the agreements of Gatt from 1 July 1999 that some person who's passionate face prohibition may finally be distilled cereal without risking very strong almonds or prison

You can visit my website and find my production by clicking on the www at the bottom of my messages.

My products are marketed throughout Switzerland and on eBay, but only for central Europe, because unfortunately, to destinations further afield, the shipping costs are $ 35 and my Tawny Corn Whiskey costs only $ 22 so it is often a problem for a buyer pay for the product cheaper than postage!

It would be for me a great pleasure to present my whikey of switzerland your expertise amused at the Bourbon Sampler and Bourbon Festival from April and September. But I need the help of a gracious ambassador brave! :angel7: So if such a avanture can seduce a member of the forum ... I send him two bottles of free Tawny Corn!

Hello Tawny,

One of my dearest friends and former business partners resides about 8 kilometers from you in the small town of Vich. His name is Charles de Mestral. The area you live in is beautiful with lots of vinyards and great views of the lake. His house is surrounded by grape vines and the "paved" roman road runs across the back of his property. I haven't visited him in several years, but the next time I do, I will make every attempt to visit your distillery and taste your creations. Welcome to the site.
