I tend toward Mike's identification of 'wheater' here. While the berries sense (Mike calls it apples -- fruitiness, in either case) I note in my review is pretty unique -- and I don't expect it in a rye recipe, either -- the sweet-burnt caramel screams wheat and is something I've NEVER found this prominent in a rye recipe.

Mike, when you say that you have your doubts about this Parker's not being a wheater are you serious or are you just trying to make a point about the taste?
If you are serious then this is most interesting from two points of view.
One, I can't wait to try this it sounds exciting.
Two, why would Kass say it is not a wheater?

Because HH didn't make any wheat 12 years ago when this was made. Some might see it as a letdown that Parker's first selection was something he didn't distill.
Frankly, it would make me admire the man that much more -- but we're kinda rare birds here in Enthusiana.

OscarV,
Larry told me it was not a wheated bourbon. My taste says the sample bottle I recieved tastes like a wheated bourbon made at Bernheim. I even compared it to last year's William LaRue Weller and found them quite similar. Now if Larry tells me it is not wheated, then I have to assume they made a mistake in the sample and bottled some Old Fitzgerald by mistake. Even so, It is damn good whiskey and like Tim I was more impressed with Parker when I thought he put his name on some wheated bourbon made by Ed Foote because it was damn good bourbon, not just because Parker made it.

Well that is very interesting.
When I think about it, the label does say it is Parker's "Collection".
