Mike, you've tasted lots of bourbon. Do you think Old Ezra stands out as particularly unique in its flavor profile? We would maybe call it pepper + anise? To us, it tastes unlike any bourbon we have had. Not that it tastes similar, but it's like EC 18 - there's just nothing else like it.

I picked up a bottle of this on a whim when I was browsing the shelves of my favorite liquor store. The price and 101 proof attracted me. It is not particularly complex but goes down easliy. A great bargain. I went back to buy another bottle a few days later and was disappointed to see them all gone.

Dave and /or Tina,
When Ezra Brooks was made by Charles Medley in Owensboro it was definitely a unique bourbon of high quality. When the brand was sold to Heaven Hill who in turn sold it to David Sherman in 1993, that all went out the door for the most part. There was still some of the Medley whiskey left, but some of it went with Charles when he bought the distillery. Some of it went to Heaven Hill to support the brand. Whether they turned it over to David Sherman, I don't know. I do know that Heaven Hill supplied the whiskey for the bottles of Ezra Brooks and still does to my knowledge. I find the new Ezra to be a decent drink, but not anything that makes me want to buy a bottle. If I do find old bottles from Medley, I buy them.

My reply goes against my grain, but Ezra Brooks is just some flat out nasty, yes, NASTY-ASSED whiskey.

It's so bad that I'd call it scotch if I could.

But I can't.

So I'll just call it Canadian.

This has been a public service announcement.

Saint bunghole...............do your teeth hurt, or is it an imagined condition? The real bunghole (who is a Saint by my lights) cannot be contained by good intentions. He is what he is and anyone who would have it differently does not understand.

MY FRIEND, SAINT BUNGHOLE! Who does not love and respect bunghole is no friend of mine!

Linn,
Is that just the present version of Ezra or do you include the Medley version in these comments?
